Is There a Sixth Sense ?

This very question has rattled many scientists for years and as we all know there have been many sci-fi movies depicting it. but do we really know what is the sixth sense of humans and are we able to use it effectively.

Touch, taste, smell, vision and hearing these are the five senses of humans to the outside world are there more types of these ?

The human brain is truly remarkable organ it contains as many nerve cells of the stars in this galaxy, it is made of complex network which interacts with this world in the ways we don't understand.

At Tilburg University in Netherlands a neuroscientist studies how emotions travel from person to person, She studies blind sight a strange phenomenon where some blind people are able to recognize emotions in other faces.

The patients who are under study are the persons who has there eyes functional and intact but its there visual part of the brain which encodes and creates image to our consciousness is affected due to stroke.

usually stroke affects only one side of the brain that leaves one eye blind.

So here we investigate whether the brain is capable of collecting the information from the blind eye, and it was found that the brain is capable of picking signals related to emotions of the other person through the blind eye. Its because when the brain detects emotions on other people's face the signals take a different pathway and reach a very different place in the brain other than visual cortex causing the brain to reply by imitating the emotions even though his eye is blind, but its not a conscious behavior.

So yeah we can see that there are senses that our consciousness don't even recognize, we are left with n number of possibilities and its still unknown about the capabilities of our brain.

The sixth sense is no longer a myth.
